Choosing an Airline

Picking the right airline for your trip can make all the difference in how smoothly your travels go. When booking your flight, think about the timing of your arrival. Will you get in late at night or early in the morning? If arriving late, you may have to pay extra for a taxi or car service since public transportation likely won’t be running. And forget about getting any sleep if you land at 3 AM!

It’s also key to check whether you’re covered under airline passenger protection laws. If your itinerary contains any flights departing from outside the EU, you may not be protected under EU261 regulations that help compensate travelers for delays, cancellations, and other disruptions. Be sure to verify what recourse you have should any problems arise with those flight segments. The last thing you want is to get stuck overseas without any support from the airline.

It’s also wise to investigate if the airline participates in an alternative dispute resolution program (ADR). Non-participating carriers may prove less cooperative in resolving issues, so it’s best to avoid them when possible. With little effort, you can relax and enjoy your travels, confident you have a safety net if things go awry.
